Kirsten

Hi I'm Kirsten. I currently live in Palmerston North in NZ.

I have a Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing Management and a Diploma in Computer Graphic Design, well, most of the degree really if I ever go back to finish a couple of papers!! Ha Ha.

I love anything involving water and until I embarked on study at Otago Uni, I was a competitive tenpin bowler who was ranked quite well amongst my peers - I might add. Now that I have a career and can afford it, I have started it up again.

I'm a big of a geek really - interested in all things design, art and gadget related. But in saying that, I think I'm a pretty cool geek.

My favourite Warehouse product would have to be the Harrison and Lane range. I love them, good solid products that not only look great, but last too.

So come on, read my blog. Find out what life at The Warehouse for a Store Manager Development Programme participant is really like. Learn about my challenges as well as the awesome friendships and opportunities I get along the way.

Ask me questions, I'm not shy.

Farewell Mosgiel……

On my last day at Mosgiel, the team plotted and I played along. That’s right, my time in Mosgiel has come to an end. In fact, as I write this, I’m sitting on a ferry heading towards Wellington, and home. I start tomorrow at the Paraparaumu store as Assistant Store Manager and while I’m jumping up and down totally excited about the challenge ahead, I’m sad to have left Mosgiel and the awesome team.

It’s been a very short week as I was offered the job only 2 weeks ago and thought I’d be in Mosgiel until closer to the end of the month. Turns out that Paraparaumu needs me a lot sooner and I only had a few days to sort everything, pack, and then leave.

Paraparaumu is on the Kapiti Coast about 40mins north of Wellington and about the same distance from Palmerston North (home)!  So I’m stoked to be close to home again and back in Region 4. The last time I was there, I was Nightfill Team Leader in Palmerston North.  Now I’m back in the region as ASM in a different store.

I feel as though I left Mosgiel too quickly but I’ve known for some time that it was my turn to move on and progress along the SMDP. The team let me know they wouldn’t forget me in a hurry and gave me a great send off involving shaving cream, sequins, glitter, and feathers. Let’s just say I “sparkled” and shaving cream isn’t the tastiest of products.

I can’t wait to begin my new role and while it’s a million miles away from the small bustling metropolis that is Mosgiel, I’ve taken so much from that store to help me in my next role that I will never be too far away from it.
