Yeeeee-HAH!
I’m now officially signed off from Phase 2 (after delivering an AWESOME presentation) of the SMDP and have applied for a new role in another region. Applications don’t close for a couple of weeks though so I won’t share any details until next time when hopefully I have landed a new role as Assistant Store Manager.
This past month has seen my Store Manager (Peter) transfer to another store and a new manager has stepped in to take up the reigns. It was a sad occasion for everyone and during his last week, the management team spent a wee bit of time reminiscing about our store and the triumphs we’ve had. It was great to actually sit down and go over everything and realise just how much we had achieved since opening. However, with the end of one era, we begin a new chapter with a new store manager, Sharlene. Sharlene has been here a week now and has some great ideas. Of course it will take a couple of weeks for everyone to get used to one another, but I’m looking forward to working with her while I wait for my next step in the SMDP.
Peter’s last day was fantastic and one everyone will remember (we have photos you see). For some reason, Peter decided to drive to work, which resulted in a glad wrapped car covered in messages and pictures from all the team. And I’m not sure what he was thinking, but he agreed to let us tie him to the pole on the sidewalk with a sign asking people to honk as it was his last day. Once he was tied in nice and tight, he may have realised his error in judgement when a few of us appeared with buckets. Let’s just say he would have been “sparkling” for a few days. It was an emotional day for all the team and I must say I’m proud to have worked with him in Mosgiel.
Now I have a problem, the team are plotting against me. Maybe I should call in sick my last day at work when I get a new role?
