Kirsten

Hi I'm Kirsten. I currently live in Palmerston North in NZ.

I have a Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing Management and a Diploma in Computer Graphic Design, well, most of the degree really if I ever go back to finish a couple of papers!! Ha Ha.

I love anything involving water and until I embarked on study at Otago Uni, I was a competitive tenpin bowler who was ranked quite well amongst my peers - I might add. Now that I have a career and can afford it, I have started it up again.

I'm a big of a geek really - interested in all things design, art and gadget related. But in saying that, I think I'm a pretty cool geek.

My favourite Warehouse product would have to be the Harrison and Lane range. I love them, good solid products that not only look great, but last too.

So come on, read my blog. Find out what life at The Warehouse for a Store Manager Development Programme participant is really like. Learn about my challenges as well as the awesome friendships and opportunities I get along the way.

Ask me questions, I'm not shy.

GOLD!

Yes, my greatest achievement over the past month has been to achieve a gold rating for our Xmas set up and I couldn’t be happier! After all the planning and work put in by the team, to achieve gold, was a fantastic result.

With the busy season upon us, finding time to get some things completed has been a real challenge. Although I’ve ensured all store requirements are completed, I’ve neglected my SMDP documentation. Not to say I haven’t been doing it, just not writing it down! I think if I were to write down everything I had done, I could just about be finished this phase and ready to move onto my next role. Although in saying that, there are still a couple of huge action plans to be completed which are only in the initial stages but I’m having great fun with them. The biggest opportunity so far is the planning and implementation of our first stocktake and having completed a store map, I can’t wait!

There has been so much going on this past month with recruitment, sales, stock levels, and “raids” on other stores. That last point being perhaps my favourite. We are fortunate enough to have a big store nearby that stocks a lot more than we could ever dream of so a couple of raids of their gardening and toy departments have been managed which means we have increased range and increased happy customers. Managing to get requested items in for customers and then receiving thanks from them is just so fantastic. So in saying that, I had best be removing myself from the computer and walking the shop floor to make sure my team are working and customers are happy.

So until next time, have a very safe and merry holiday season.
