Kirsten

Hi I'm Kirsten. I currently live in Palmerston North in NZ.

I have a Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing Management and a Diploma in Computer Graphic Design, well, most of the degree really if I ever go back to finish a couple of papers!! Ha Ha.

I love anything involving water and until I embarked on study at Otago Uni, I was a competitive tenpin bowler who was ranked quite well amongst my peers - I might add. Now that I have a career and can afford it, I have started it up again.

I'm a big of a geek really - interested in all things design, art and gadget related. But in saying that, I think I'm a pretty cool geek.

My favourite Warehouse product would have to be the Harrison and Lane range. I love them, good solid products that not only look great, but last too.

So come on, read my blog. Find out what life at The Warehouse for a Store Manager Development Programme participant is really like. Learn about my challenges as well as the awesome friendships and opportunities I get along the way.

Ask me questions, I'm not shy.

Ok, so it’s been a CRAZY busy month here in Paraparaumu.

We’ve had promotions running into promotions and plans running into even bigger plans. We’ve been working on lifting store standards and whilst we’ve come a long way, and have been making great progress, there is still a lot to be done. So I have been busy making plans for a few departments to get them in the best shape and in the case of one area, it requires a very big overhaul which is starting to come along nicely.

We have also had our H2T (head to toe) launch. There was a lot of planning and resources put into getting it just right for the new season and while it was hard, it was also a lot of fun getting involved with what is happening. To be honest though, I will be happy if I never have to spend time in footwear ever again.

We also had a new ‘Store Standards’ project implemented in store. I was in charge of driving the implementation of this project in my store so I was very keen to see the final result. Our first check scored us at 96% which was a little disappointing as we were let down by some minor issues but at least we know how to fix them before we are checked again. The whole team has got behind this standard and are all working well to achieve it on a consistent basis.

So while I have been crazy busy with my role, I’ve still managed to get some SMDP work done. Plus my Regional Manager has added to the workload of what I’m doing - which is great. It means I get to start learning and be exposed to the much higher level stuff involving planning and analysis.

So this has been a mini novel. I’m still buzzing in this store so have to be careful otherwise I would write HEAPS! I’ll leave some for next month, including how much fun Christmas Roadshow was and whether or not I have a new nephew! EXCITING!
